Sufi Dancing!

April 3 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm CDT

**Sufi Dancing**
(AKA Dances of Universal Peace)
Sunday, April 3rd, 7:00 to 9:00 pm

at Holistic Gateway

Donations accepted, but not required

It’s been tooo long since we’ve danced together, friends! I’m so grateful that the time has arrived to again kindle a new monthly fire for our dance community.

No proof of vaccination or masks will be required at this event (the pandemic is over enough, and I’m ready to see some wonderful smiles again!) (And… please stay home if you’ve got ANY symptoms)

Come and weave a circle of sacred presence with experienced seekers and curious newbies alike. We honor all traditions of the world’s spiritual seekers by singing sacred songs and dancing simple steps in a circle of universal prayer.

We’ll take a break in the middle of the event for some meet and greet and eat (bring a snack if you like)

No former experience is necessary. You’ll learn the words, songs and steps we’ll be using in a comfortable setting. There are no performers and no audience members. This is a circle of healing presence. Words can’t do justice to the beauty that unfolds here.

All beings are welcome in this circle

On the term “Sufi”

The mystical side of Islam is often what this word refers to, but in the universalist lineage which birthed the Dances, we find a different meaning:
“The Sufi movement is a group of people, belonging to different religions, who have not left their religions but have learned to understand them better; and their love is in life, as the love for God and humanity, instead of for a particular sect.
The principle work that the Sufi movement has to accomplish is to bring about a better understanding between East and West and between the nations and races of this world. And the note that the Sufi message is striking at the present time is the note which sounds the divinity of the human soul – to make human beings recognize the divinity in the human soul.”
“There is one Holy Book, the sacred manuscript of nature, which truly enlightens all readers.”
-Hazrat Inayat Khan
