“The One in the Same Collection” Art Exhibition
September 22, 2020 @ 6:30 pm - 9:00 pm CDT
“The One in the Same Collection”
Art Exhibition featuring Art Therapy-based works created by Josie Stromseth, MS, ATR, RYT
This show will feature a collection of circle drawings and process paintings representing a visual continuum of time during this Summer 2020; their link to the past and potential quest to notes for transformation for growth in the future. Circles being one of the greatest archetypes of all time, they can hold space for multitudes of messages, symbology, and feelings that we may or may not be able to consciously fully grasp in any given moment. These “feeling circles” are a practice Josie uses with her clients as a daily ritual practice, and since it can be quite vulnerable to showcase ones thoughts, feelings, body sensations, and orientation from day to day with strangers for a client, Josie is using this as an opportunity to educate, connect with, and inspire transformation using herself and her own art as the example of the patterns being recognized and tracked. The hope is the viewers will be able to recognize a bit of themselves in the process and patterns, learn more about how Art Therapy functions, and open opportunities for new ways of using creative expression as part of a regular human experience. Visual displays, written reflections, Big Picture analysis, as well as opportunities for community art making and display will be shared as opportunity to help our community learn more about Artmaking practices and the role creation can have in daily living for individuals and the collective.
This exhibition will be on display from Mid September through December 2020.
